1.Rice - 1cup
2.Moong dhal/Pesarapappu - 1/2 cup
3.Jaggery - 1 3/4 cup
4.Ghee - 3tbsp
5.Almond slices - 3tbsp(you can use your choice of nuts)
6.Cardamom powder - 2tsp
Method
1.In a pan add ghee and fry almonds till it changes nice color in medium flame.Transfer this to a bowl.
2.In the same pan fry moong dal in ghee for 3-4mts till it releases nice flavour.
3.Cook rice,moong dal in water in medium flame until the rice and moong dal becomes soft and cooks very well.
4.In the another vessel melt jaggery by adding 1/4 cup water in low flame.
5.Once the rice is done very well reduce the flame into low and add jaggery syrup to the rice and cook for 5-6mts till it becomes slightly thickened.
6.Finally add cardamom powder,fried nuts to the payasam and mix well.
