Ingredients
1.Beerakaya /Ridge guard - 1/2pound
2.Onion - 1
3.Red chilli powder - 1/2tsp
4.Green chilli - 2
5.Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp
6.Salt -to taste
7. Sesame seeds - 2 1/2tsp
8.Poppy seeds - 1tsp
9.Oil - 1tbsp
10.Mustard seeds - 1/4tsp
11.Jeera - 1/4tsp
12.Chana dhal - 1/2tsp
12.Dhania Powder - 1/4tsp
Method
1.Peel the skin of ridge guard and slice into pieces.Cut each slice into half and boil in water with salt and turmeric powder for 7-8mts or till the pieces becomes tender.Drain the water and keep it aside.After it cools down squeeze out excess water and keep it in a bowl.
2.Heat oil in a wide skillet.Dry roast sesame seeds,poppy seeds and make into fine powder.
3.In the same skillet add oil.Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds,once it starts spluttering add jeera,chana dhal.
4.Add onion piecesand green chillies and fry for 4-5mts.Add salt,pinch of turmeric powder and mix well.
5.Add ridge guard pieces and fry for 5mts.Add red chilli powder,adjust salt,dhania powder and mix well.
6.Finally add sesame seeds powder,poppy seeds powder to the curry and mix well for a minute.
7.Serve hot with rice.
