Coconut rice Biryani and Potato kurma

1.Rice - 3 cups
2.Onions - 2 finely sliced.
3.Ginger garlicpaste - 1 1/2tsp

4.Green chillies - 3

5.Salt - to taste

6.Thick coconut milk - 2 1/2 cups

7.Mint leaves - 1/4 cup
8.Green peas - 1/2 cup
9.Coriander Pwd - 1 1/2 tsp

10.Cinnamon stick(1") - 1

11.Oil /ghee - 2tbsp

12.Turmeric pwd - 1/2 tsp

13.Elachi - 2

14.Bayleaf - 2

15.Cloves - 2

16.water - 2 cups

1.Wash the rice and soak in water for 15 mts.

2.Heat oil/ghee in a pan.Add whole garam masala and fry for 30 secs.

3.Add finely sliced onions and fry for 5-8 mts.

4.To this add ginger garlic paste and fry for a mt.Add green chillies and fry.
5.Add dhania pwd ,salt,turmeric pwd and mix well.Finally add green peas and cook for a mt.

6.Add rice to this mixture and mix .Add coconut milk ,water and mix well. Cover the lid and and cook until the rice cooked very well.
7.Serve with potato kurma or your choice of curry.


1.Boiled Potatoes - 4 medium size
2.Tomatoes - 2 small
3.Ginger garlic paste - 1tsp
4.Turmeric pwd - 1/2 tsp
5.Red chilli pwd - 1tsp
6.Coriander pwd - 1tsp
7.Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
8.Grated fresh coconut paste- 1/2 cup
9.Yogurt (well beaten)- 1/2 cup
10.Oil - 2tbsp
11.Chopped onions - 1cup

1.Heat oil in a vessel.Add chopped onions.and fry until it turns color.
2.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are mushy.
3.Add ginger garlic paste and fry .
4.Peel the potatoes and cube into medium size pieces.Add the potatoes ,turmeric pwd,chillipwd
and Coriander powder.Mix well.
5.Cover the lid and cook in medium low flame for 10mts.
6.To this add coconut paste ,beaten yogurt and mix well.Add garam masala powder and mix well.
7.And finally cups of water and cook in medium flame until you get desired consitency
