Hot pongal/Ven pongal


1.Raw rice - 1 cup
2.Moong dhal - 1/2 cup
3.Freshly pounded pepper - 1tsp
4.Ginger (Finely choped) - 1/2 tsp
5.Cashewnuts - 10
6.Curryleaves - few
7.Mustard seeds - 1/4tsp
8.Jeers - 1/4 tsp
9.Dry Red chilli - 1
10 Ghee - 3tbsp

1.pressure cook rice and moongdhal together with3 cups of water until rice becomes mushy or 5 whistles.Mash the rice slightly.
2.In a pan heat ghee add cashew nuts and fry in medium flame for 1mt.Add
mustard seeds,when it stops spluttering add jeera.ginger and red chilli and finally add curry leaves.
3.Add this seasoning in rice and moong dal mixture .Mix very well.
4.Serve hot with rasam or coconut chutney.
